The Memorial Plate of Franz Liszt: Beyoğlu,

Nur-i Ziya Sokak No:11

Franz Liszt arrived in Istanbul on 8th June 1847 and spent five weeks in the city. He stayed in the flat of music-seller and piano-maker Alexander Kommendinger. He gave two concerts to Sultan Abdul-Mejid, who received him separately as well, giving him presents. Liszt played in almost all of the concert halls of Istanbul existing at that time and also gave an open-air concert. He stayed in connection with the Court of the Sultan and the music scene of Istanbul until his death. A plaque on a building, made by Miklós Borsos, is not the original building, but it designates the place where Franz Liszt had been resided.
