The Csáky House in Tekirdağ

Cont Mihály Csáky (1676-1757) was one of the generals of Franciscus II Rákóczi. He lived in exile in Poland after the failure of the revolution, and joined the kuruc (rebel Hungarian) military officers in 1716 in the Ottoman Empire. He lived in Tekirdağ from 1722 on. He was the leader (başbuğ) of the Hungarian colony between 1739-1757. He died and was buried in the Turkish city. His former house is under 11 Macar Sokak and has been renovated in recent years by the Municipality of Tekirdağ. The building operates as the House of Turkish-Hungarian Culture.
